Sunflowers

One of my favorite outfits is the Van Gogh gown in the Masterpiece series from The White Armory. After I bought it I didn't take it off for several days and only did when people began to comment. Dresses at TWA are beautiful, intricate, and expensive. They do have sales, however, and they give away a gown a week to group members.

You have no doubt noticed the harp in the above photo, which brings me to my second point. My typist, while by no means accomplished, or even very good, does play the harp, and badly done harps in SL are one of her pet peeves. By badly done harps, I mean the ones that force one to play the instrument backwards with the center column on one's shoulder. I am also partial to the older scroll head harps, on the right, below.

So I was delighted to find a scroll head harp, done well. It is from Sakisa's Shop, and the creator is Sakisa Mazi. It comes in 4 colors, and is only 5 prims including the chair. Click it and the music starts, whether or not you are sitting at it. It plays Pachelbel's Canon. The instructions are in Japanese, and the chair has two poses in it, playing and sitting. To change the pose press the shift key and the right arrow. Sakisa's also has other instruments.

Here I am playing in the traditional way, with the harp on my right shoulder. The dress spreads out nicely around the harp. Below is a detail, showing the hat, which comes with the dress, and the sunflower jewelry I'm wearing from Donna Flora. I'm not wearing prim fingernails on purpose, because one plays this type of harp with the pads of the fingers, and nails get in the way. My hair is from Boon and is called QPT129. My skin is from Curio.

Here's a view from the back:

In real life one would be sitting up straighter and the harp would be leaning back, but this is a reasonable compromise, since the instrument will be standing most of the time.

And now my beauties....Poppies!

This was a fun outfit to put together and I'll probably wear it to the Blue Mermaid some Wednesday night to dance to their weekly burlesque. I found the dress at WildSouL while going through the weekly 60L Weekend list. This dress was not the 60L offering, but I saw it while looking through the store. They have some imaginative clothes including dresses like this one made from other flowers. I'm standing in Mela's sexy pose #4, which was a hair fair gift.

Here's a detail of the dress:

Next is a glam shot showing some accessories I added. The hair is from [Kik] and is called Noel. It comes with the flower as an option. Jewelry is from Gems & Kisses and is called Meraviglia. They have lovely jewelry and a <99L store. The Poppy eyelashes are from [ glow ]. The pose is called Venus 1e and I got it as a participant in Vaneeesa Blaylock's performance art piece, VB26. I'm also wearing Sakurako eyes from their Color Eyes set, and a skin from this week's 60L list. It's from KRB and is called 3 Twilight Kisses. I added some bright red lipstick from L.Fauna.

The Poppy shoes came from Vita's Boudoir, and come with a hud to change the nail polish and skintone. Vita's is another place filled with imaginative costumes and is one of my favorites. Vita's has another poppy dress and a poppy hat as well.

What would Ophelia wear?

I was invited to make a coffin for the "Earthly Remains" show at Gallery Xue, and used the images of Ophelia's death from Millais juxtaposed with lotuses to symbolize rebirth in a more enlightened state. The coffins can be seen here:

The show inspired me to wonder what an SL Ophelia would wear. So here is my answer.

I'm wearing a dress called The Evil under the Sun: Hippie Bordeaux from artMEfashion in Caledon Moors: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Caledon%20Moors/58/129/23. The hair is called Venus and comes from Exile: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Covet/204/75/32 The pose is by Matthias Byron and is called Float Mixte Animation. The picture was taken in my coffin and overlaid with images of flowers and water. Plants in the photo were made by Elicio Ember, Vitrail Illios and Pandore Jarvis.

I want to ride my bicycle....

I looked for quite some time before I found the perfect bloomers for bicycling, and what better way to cycle than on "The Amazing Bicycle Blimp."

I'm wearing "Early Morning Cardigan" from Fishy Strawberry over a camisole by Boho Hobo. The scarf also comes from Boho Hobo, and moves beautifully when in motion. My hair is KED937 from BOON, and my flushed skin is Winter Coal from Curio. The goggles came from Arundel Design. The hat is "Casquette" from R246.

The bloomers came from FAB.PONY and are called "Mezzy pants". The lace up boots came from G Field.

The blimp includes a radio, a couple of cans of beans, and a teddy bear. Well supplied, we ride off into the sunset leaving a trail of links.

The Amazing Bicycle Blimp is a freebie from Arcadia Asylum and can be found in a number of places including here (note: you may land at a hub, find these coordinates, near the escalators):

Steampunk Explorer

Today I felt adventurous and decided to explore some Inca ruins. Of course I had to have the perfect outfit, which is a mixture of outfits. But first, here I am at the ruins.

The system clothing (the non prim part) is all part of a freebie outfit from the Curious Seamstress (GWD), as is the pith helmet. Once a hunt prize, it is now set out in the freebie section at the main store.

The skirt and boots are from Kat's Meow, and are included in the outfit, "Steampunk in Leather." Here's a detail of the boots, with a nice gear theme around the top.

And now for the accessories. First, here is a photo showing them in detail.

The skirt has its own belt, and I layered another belt on on top of it at a different angle. The second belt has a stopwatch, some rope, and a spyglass, all things that might come in handy for an explorer. It is part of the outfit, "Time for Cogs", from Rag Dollz. The clock necklace came from a lucky board at DCCXXIII, and the eyepiece is a hunt prize from Fiction & Chaos. My hair, in a rather disheveled bun, is from Maitreya, and is called "Green II".

Egyptian Look

I'm an artist's avatar who runs a papermill in Second Life. One thing I enjoy very much is putting together various looks: finding the perfect accessories, mashing up several outfits into one. People often comment on the way I'm dressed and want to know where I got various things that I'm wearing, so I thought why not make a blog?

Today I'm wearing a stunning ancient Egyptian outfit from Alafolie called Neferati.

This outfit was offered as a complete set at the recent Egyptian themed accessory fair. I liked it so much that I didn't change a thing. The detail is exquisite. Here is a detail of the crown:

And a close up of the included scarab jewelry:

The outfit also included matching golden sandals with an easy to use HUD. The presets have actually matched each skin I've worn with it. In the picture, I'm wearing a skin by Lara Hurley called Devon Red.

The accessory fair is over, and I didn't see the outfit when I walked through the store, so it may not be available anymore. Their main store is here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/AlaFolie/133/141/38 Their clothing is rich in detail, beautifully textured, and moves gracefully. It is on the expensive side, but there are frequent sales for group members, and also some freebies at the front desk.

In these photos I was using an animation pack by Olive Juice called "Walk Like an Egyptian." Olive Juice can be found here:  http://slurl.com/secondlife/Hide%20and%20Seek/64/199/29
Lara Hurley skins are here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Magic%20Valley/198/199/23
I'm also wearing lipstick from L.Fauna, which is here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Imogen/37/31/32

The photos were taken at an Egyptian themed skybox that I made.
